Plunger? I Hardly Know Her!

Plunger? I Hardly Know Her! is a comedic short film mimicking beloved exploitative "reality" shows using some not-so-subtle nods. Mario Jumpman Mario is a humble plumber experiencing a rough patch in his marriage with his wife Gunhilda. It is revealed in a mockumentary-style story that Gunhilda has cheated on her husband with a talking plunger. Drama ensues as the couple navigates the idea of new parenthood while tackling Gunhilda's unfaithfulness.

This project was the result of a 48-hour film festival hosted at Bowling Green State University. We were given 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a 5 minute short film. Each team participating were also given randomly assigned prompts including genre, a prop that must be included, and a line of dialogue that must be said at some point in the film. The prop we were assigned (the plunger) is truly integral to the story. When the plot of the short film was being developed, our team made the creative decision to make our prop into a character in itself. The outcome was a film that I could not imagine would ever be thought of on its own.
